Salford Royal Hospital Surgical Unit

The Day Case Theatre Extension at Salford Royal Hospital, Stott Lane, has been developed to expand the Trust’s surgical capacity and support an increased volume of day case procedures. The scheme provides high-quality, purpose-built facilities designed to improve patient flow, efficiency and overall clinical outcomes.

The extension introduces both a “barn theatre” and a single theatre, enabling flexible use and greater throughput of procedures. These are supported by a full suite of associated accommodation including patient preparation areas, recovery spaces, scrub facilities, anaesthetic rooms and dedicated staff areas.

The design prioritises clear circulation and functional layouts to support safe and efficient clinical operations, while also enhancing the patient experience through well-organised and accessible spaces. As part of the wider Salford Royal campus, the extension strengthens the hospital’s ability to deliver timely care and reinforces its role as a leading provider of high-quality day case surgery.
