Little Hulton Health Centre

Client: Salford CCG

Location: Salford

As architects, our work at Little Hulton Health Centre focused on creating a welcoming and community-centred healthcare facility on Haysbrook Avenue, a location that already serves a broad range of local health needs including GP services and community care. The building plays a key role in supporting public health provision and contributes to the wider social infrastructure of Little Hulton.

From an urban design perspective, we prioritised strengthening the building’s relationship with surrounding streets and neighbourhood connections. With public transport stops located only a short distance from the centre, we designed its external environment to improve accessibility, permeability and street presence, ensuring the health centre acts as a visible and approachable civic anchor within the community.

The project also demonstrated the value of reusing a redundant site, transforming an under-utilised plot into a vital public amenity. By adopting an adaptive-reuse approach, we were able to minimise environmental impact while revitalising the local townscape, showing how thoughtful design can turn previously inactive land into a meaningful and sustainable community asset.
