Isles of Scilly Health and Social Care Facility

This project aims to enhance healthcare for the people of the Isles of Scilly by expanding St Mary’s Hospital to include a new care home facility and a ward extension with coastal views.

A dedicated entrance, reception, and waiting area are planned for the Park House Care Home, enhancing its unique identity. Scenic coastal views are optimized with low windowsills, and new garden courtyards are designed to support residents’ and patients’ well-being.

To maintain the local aesthetic, the project will use locally sourced granite, grey slate roofs, and off-white insulated render. By reusing these eco-friendly, long-lasting materials, the new design will blend seamlessly with the existing structure while minimizing environmental impact.

The design needed to account for complex transport logistics to get modular components and materials to the island. This project includes a complex stakeholder group including the Dutchy of Cornwall.
