Truro health Park

Client: Community 1st Cornwall

Location: Cornwall

As Architects for Truro Health Park, our design vision centred on creating a modern, integrated primary care environment that could consolidate a wide range of NHS services into a single, accessible hub. The site’s prominent location on Infirmary Hill in Truro provided the opportunity to design a building that would become a recognisable healthcare landmark, easily identified at the top of Lemon Street and adjacent to key local amenities.

Our approach prioritised patient experience and clarity of movement throughout the building. From arrival whether via the on-site parking or the convenient Lemon Street bus stop—visitors enter a linear public corridor that leads intuitively to waiting and reception areas, such as the Three Spires reception, enhancing wayfinding and reducing stress for patients attending appointments.

This spatial strategy supports the operational needs of services within the building, including GP clinics, the Primary Care Hub offering rapid access to minor-illness appointments, and the Acute Care at Home team based on site.

By bringing together diverse NHS functions, from general primary care to specialist services such as the Truro SARC, Truro Health Park stands as an exemplar of integrated community healthcare. Our architectural response ensured that the facility could support this range of services effectively, providing flexibility, high-quality clinical environments, and a welcoming civic presence for the people of Truro.
