Darnall Primary Care Centre

Client: Community 1st Sheffield

Location: Sheffield

Darnall Primary Care Centre was designed to replace an outdated healthcare facility and now provides a comprehensive range of medical services, including GP and nursing services, minor surgical procedures, community therapies and an on-site pharmacy. It also accommodates Darnall Wellbeing and serves as an important hub for the local community.

Commissioned by NHS Sheffield and delivered by Community 1st Sheffield, the scheme replaces two former practices and brings significant benefits to the area through the co-location of extended health and therapy services under one roof. Larger clinical group rooms have been thoughtfully positioned to allow community groups to book and use these spaces when not required by the practices, helping to forge strong and lasting links with local residents.

A key feature of the development is the programme of community art installations delivered in partnership with Arts for Health. These installations were created through collaboration with local artists, patients and community organisations, resulting in artworks that reflect Darnall’s diverse cultural identity and promote wellbeing within the centre. The pieces enhance the building’s internal environment, create welcoming spaces for visitors and staff, and strengthen the centre’s role as a community asset by celebrating local stories and creativity.
