Battersea Roof Gardens

Battersea Roof Gardens is a landmark mixed-use development within the Battersea Power Station regeneration, designed by the award-winning architectural practice Foster + Partners. The scheme comprises 436 contemporary apartments alongside the art’otel London Battersea Power Station, creating a vibrant residential and hospitality destination on the banks of the River Thames. Inspired by the flow of the river, the building’s elegant, curved form establishes a distinctive architectural presence and provides residents and visitors with exceptional views across London’s skyline.

Our appointment by VolkerLaser included the delivery of RIBA Stage 5 design services for the waterproofing, insulation, paving, and green roof elements throughout the development. Particular attention was given to the extensive rooftop garden, a defining feature of the scheme that provides valuable amenity space high above the city. Our services also encompassed the design of waterproofing systems to townhouse gardens, rooftop terraces, and lift and staircase overrun roofs, together with green roof solutions that contribute to the project’s environmental performance and biodiversity objectives. Through close collaboration with the contractor and wider design team, we delivered practical and sustainable design solutions that supported the successful realisation of this highly complex and prestigious development.
