Griffin Park Tactical Training Centre (CNC)

The proposed development creates a world-class training facility to provide the highest level of teaching and training based at the Sellafield site. The facility will enable training of the highest calibre. A ‘campus’ style landscape provides a clear, legible and welcoming entry sequence and approach for visitors and staff and acts as an appropriate setting for the ‘Hub’ building containing reception and classroom-based teaching facilities.

The site was a greenfield site and the landscaping as implemented recognises, respects and, most importantly, supplements local landscape character. It was the intention of the landscape proposals to help contextualise the built form and complement the various architectural character zones proposed. As a requirement of the National Planning Policy Framework, recommendations were implemented which enhance the site’s biodiversity.
