Wigan Community Fire and Ambulance Station

The new station provides shared facilities for both the Fire Service and NWAS, including a dedicated community zone with its own public entrance, along with a community gym and meeting rooms. An ambulance Make Ready garage supports the NWAS hub-and-spoke model, ensuring efficient vehicle preparation and rapid deployment. Together, these elements create an integrated hub where firefighters and paramedics work side-by-side, introducing a new approach to cross-service collaboration.

We achieved BREEAM rating of Excellent, highlighting our commitment to sustainable design. “Wigan Community Fire and Ambulance Station is a flagship building which has been specially designed for joint working between GMFRS and NWAS. I’m also excited that the first hub and spoke station of its kind in the North West has been brought to Wigan and it will mean that we can provide improved clinical care to patients ensuring they receive the right care at the right time and right
