NAS Thames Valley Free SEN School

Thames Valley School in Tilehurst, Reading, has been delivered as a purpose-built specialist education facility designed to support autistic children and young people within a calm, structured and supportive environment. Constructed using modern modular methods by a specialist off-site contractor, the school demonstrates the benefits of precision manufacturing and rapid on-site assembly, enabling high-quality educational accommodation to be delivered efficiently.

The school caters for students aged 4 to 16 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), providing tailored learning spaces that respond to a wide range of sensory and educational needs. The layout incorporates small class bases, generous circulation areas and dedicated break-out rooms, creating a clear and legible environment that helps reduce anxiety and supports effective learning.

Throughout the design, careful consideration has been given to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing setting, reinforcing the school’s role in delivering specialist education for the National Autistic Society and the wider community.
