Staffordshire Police to Begin Construction of New Firearms Training Centre at HQ

Staffordshire Police is set to begin construction on a new, state-of-the-art Firearms Training Centre at its headquarters in Stafford, with work due to commence in August 2025.

The facility, designed from feasibility through to start on site by Bluesky Architects, will be delivered in partnership with Morgan Sindall as Principal Contractor. It will provide a bespoke, soundproofed environment that meets national standards and supports both current and future training needs for our specialist firearms officers.

Key features will include:

  • A 10-lane, 50-metre indoor firing range
  • Modern training rooms and dedicated office space
  • A specialist skills house for immersive, scenario-based training such as room entry and search tactics

Ben Adams, Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime, welcomed the project:

“Police firearms deployments in Staffordshire are relatively low, but when our communities need an armed response to keep them safe, it is essential the force has the right training and facilities in place to deliver the highest quality service.”

The new centre will significantly enhance Staffordshire Police’s capability to train its firearms officers locally, reducing reliance on external sites while improving operational readiness and public safety.

Construction will continue through 2025, with further updates to follow as the project progresses.
