bluesky architects present the new Blackburn Health Centre to Lord Shuttleworth
John Dickinson of bluesky architects along with Paul Hopley of NHS Blackburn with Darwen, had the great pleasure of escourting The Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire, The Lord Shuttleworth KCVO of Leck Hall around the new Blackburn Health Centre on Simmons Street, Blackburn. The £21million health development is the latest in the East Lancashire LIFT program and bluesky architects are continuing our role of being the local NHS trusts representative and advisors.
The building work is being undertaken by Eric Wright Construction, the LIFTco partner and is on target for completion and handover to the NHS trust on 19th September 2011.
The Office of Lord-Lieutenant is military in origin and dates from the reign of Henry VIII when the holder was made responsible for local defence.
The Lord-Lieutenant is appointed by Her Majesty The Queen to be her personal representative in the county of Lancashire. As such he represents Her Majesty at events in the county and is responsible for the preparation of programmes for Royal Visits to Lancashire, for the presentation of awards to organisations (The Queen's Awards for Enterprise and for Voluntary Service) and to individuals as well as advising on Honours Nominations.
Lord Shuttleworth confirmed he would be making a recommendation that a member of the Royal family opens the new facility in early 2012.
