LYNCH HILL ENTERPRISE ACADEMY NOMINATED FOR OFF-SITE AWARD

October 16, 2017

Bluesky are delighted to announce that Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy has been shortlisted for Off-site Project of the Year at the prestigious Building Awards 2017.

Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy is one of the UK’s largest ever post-primary modular schools – accommodating 1140 pupils across 8750m2 of floor space.

Acting as Design Team Lead, bluesky worked closely with the client and Contractor to develop plans for the scheme using the latest BIM software.

The completed three-storey secondary school development houses state of the art educational facilities, a four-court sports hall, a multi-use games area, playing fields, car parking areas and extensive landscaping.

The project was commissioned by The Learning Alliance Academy Trust, with the contract being awarded through the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Framework for Modular Building Systems which is funded through the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). The framework is set up to deliver high-quality architectural solutions utilising the benefits of off-site construction technology. These benefits, as demonstrated by the completed project, include faster project delivery times, reduced on-site construction period and a high-quality finish.

Our state-of-the art new building will provide an outstanding and stimulating learning environment to help students achieve our goals, with modern technologies, resources and facilities for our students.

Children who undertake their secondary school education at LHEA will do so in a brand-new building which has been designed to meet the many and diverse needs of learners in the 21st century.

Learning will take place in traditional classroom spaces fitted with the very latest educational technology alongside a mixture of state of the art studios, laboratories, workshops and “break-out” spaces. Together, they will provide a comprehensive range of learning experiences for our students, maximising their learning opportunities, potential and outcomes.

The building is spacious, bright and colourful. In addition to fully fitted Science Laboratories, IT and Technology suites there is a first-rate Sports Hall, Dance Studio and Fitness Suite. There are Music, Art and Drama studios, and a Main Hall with retractable seating, sound and lighting for school assemblies and school Performing Arts productions.

The top floor of our building houses a self – contained Sixth Form Centre; this will offer exciting educational opportunities for our first cohort of students in September 2019.
